Fun in the Sun

Coby, Ava, and I got back yesterday from a very relaxing and enjoyable vacation to Gulf Shores, Alabama. Growing up, we always spent our beach time in Destin, FL. Destin has now passed the "too crowded" mark for us. Gulf Shores is a beautiful, white beach about an hour closer to us. We stayed in a 4 bedroom condo with Mamie, Poppy, Uncle Jake, Uncle Lance, Aunt Allison, Uncle Kevin, Aunt Heather, and cousins Olivia and Grant. We had such a good time.

The first day there, Ava was terrified of the sand. This took Coby and I by surprise since Ava has not been scared of that much as of yet. She literally crawled up us both any time we were holding her and dug her finger nails into our shoulders. By the following morning, she was accustomed to it and slowly began trying to delicately touch it just to make sure it wouldn't hurt her. By the end of the trip, she was eating it! :) Ava loved spending time with her cousins, Olivia and Grant. They took good care of her. She loved the ocean water and especially loved swimming in the pool with Daddy.

We were very sad to leave this beautiful beach. We were also sad to leave our family as we had such a good time. But there will be more trips in the future. The 12 hour car ride home was okay. Ava did wonderful. She slept a lot and ate a lot. We took turns entertaining her. She got fussy a few times so we would get out and stretch, then she was okay. Thanks to Mamie and Poppy for taking us on a wonderful, needed vacation.
